IT Manager

Job description

A Christian charity is looking for an IT Manager. The successful candidate will have responsibility for the IT Department which includes the complete IT network infrastructure, all day to day processes, installation, support and maintenance, as well as purchasing of IT equipment, software and other services; this is either directly or through the use of third-party support providers. The candidate will be responsible for managing, maintaining and providing IT systems & services, telecommunications systems & packages and providing a high standard of technical support for users across the charity.

Key responsibilities

Provide technical recommendations, training and guidance to IT staff ensuring that their technical skills are continually being updated.
Recruit, develop, appraise and set annual objectives for IT staff.
Deliver IT support and services (applications, systems, security, photocopiers/printers, infrastructure and cloud services (Office 365, Azure) that align with organisational needs.
Maintain backup systems and perform data restores as required.
Maintain supplier relationships by instructing and liaising with professional advisers (e.g. software providers and third parties).
Manage, maintain, and update telephone and broadband systems.
Propose & manage annual IT budget to ensure effective use of resources.
Write-up non-technical instructions for non-technical users.
Work closely with the Estates Manager in support of any building refurbishments, decanting, relocation or development including office moves, expansions or new sites.

Person specification

Proven working experience as an IT manager or relevant experience
BSc in Computer Science or Computing & Information Systems or equivalent
Excellent knowledge of technical management, information analysis and of computer hardware/soft- ware systems
Expertise in data centre management and data governance
Hands-on experience with computer networks, network administration and network installation
Great IT skills combined with a good head for business
Understanding of complex information and requirements
The ability to work on your own initiative
Strong leadership and decision-making skills
Comfortable performing a wide range of activities, including stretching to new skill/experience areas.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Good prioritisation skills and be flexible enough to adapt plans
Ability to explain complex systems in simple terms
