Job title: Operations Manager
Hours: 35 hours per week
Contract: Six months (mid-September 2021 to mid-March 2022)

BACKGROUND
The charity began in 2008 with a weekly drop-in service offering initial legal advice on immigration and welfare issues to migrants in Hackney and surrounding areas.

This year we carried out a strategic review of our aims and priorities and we are developing a plan for our work over the next three years. Our current Director of Operations is retiring and while we review our staffing structure, we are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to maintain and develop our systems over the next six month.

PURPOSE OF THE POST
The postholder will have responsibility for ensuring the efficient operation of charity's internal systems and for the management of finance.
The postholder will be expected to:
Take primary responsibility for ensuring the financial stability of the organisation and support the Fundraiser
Take overall responsibility for staffing
Ensure good administrative and financial systems are maintained and developed and appropriate levels of governance are applied across the charity
Ensure up-to-date policies and procedures and legal and regulatory compliance

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
To manage finances and ensure financial stability for the organisation
To prepare quarterly and annual accounts with the treasurer and Finance Officer
To have oversight of budget and support with management of project budgets
To oversee the work of the Finance Officer
To support the Fundraiser with fundraising strategy, funding applications, and reporting to funders.
To ensure good governance is applied across the charity
To ensure the charity meets its regulatory and compliance obligations
To ensure that charity's policies are up-to-date appropriate, meet legal and operational requirements and are reviewed regularly by the Board of Trustees
To identify, manage and mitigate operational and strategic risks and ensure that these are brought to the prompt attention of the Trustees
To support with the development of the strategic plan, and associated implementation.


PERSON SPECIFICATION
Understanding of the issues involved in the management of small charities
Experience of financial oversight and of managing budgets
Experience of staff management
Experience in providing administrative support throughout an organisation
