Part Time Head of Finance, HR and Governance

Harris Hill is recruiting for a Part Time Head of Finance, HR and Governance for this Animal Charity.

  • Reports to: Chief Executive
  • Hours: 32 hours per week (compressed hours, job share or flexible working negotiable)
  • Location: Home-based with travel to the office near Oxford a couple of times a month
  • Salary: £32,000 ( £40,000pa pro rata)

Main responsibilities:
The Head of Finance, HR and Governance will manage our finances, HR function and support our governance, working closely with the Treasurer, Chief Executive and HR consultants. You will ensure our organisational financial, administrative, and operational systems are accurate, compliant with regulation and fit for purpose. You will lead on strategic financial and systems developments.

Key activities:

  • Ensure accurate and up to date financial management information and reports are provided to the CEO, Board and budget holders
  • Work with colleagues to provide organisational budgets and business plans, leading the annual budgeting and business planning process, providing the Board with an annual budget, quarterly management accounts and half-yearly reforecasts against planned budgets
  • Ensure our financial systems are effectively resourced, managed and upgraded to remain fit for purpose
  • Develop risk management and reserves policy papers
  • Ensure our HR policies and processes are up to date and meet regulation, working with our HR consultants
  • Provide a point of contact for HR matters in the organisation
  • Develop a people strategy, remuneration and reward policies and other key people management documents to ensure staff are supported, rewarded and retained, supported by HR consultants
  • Support HR processes including recruitment, redundancy, or other such processes
  • Provide compliance management support across the organisation, ensuring up to date knowledge, reports on key issues such as complaints, GDPR, health and safety and other matters as required by the CEO and the board
  • Manage the administrative office and support the management of other property as needed
  • Ensure the organisation manages its resources with effective spending delegation and sign off processes
  • Line manage the Office Manager and Finance Officer
  • Attend Board meetings where requested, providing supportive papers and information

Skills and experience

  • Expert financial skills, as a qualified or part qualified accountant
  • Experience of line management
  • Knowledge of HR policies and processes
