People Manager

Job description

I am excited to be working with an amazing London-based charity that supports young families experiencing poverty. They’re looking for a People Manager to join their small, values-driven People Team on a 3-month temporary basis — with potential to extend.

Hybrid – Home-based, typically with 1 day per month in London
£19.81 per hour
28–35 hours per week
3-month contract | ASAP start | View to extend
 

This is a broad generalist HR role, offering the chance to make a meaningful impact quickly.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide expert HR advice across the full employee lifecycle

  • Manage onboarding, changes to terms, and offboarding processes

  • Support and coach managers on employee relations issues (performance, grievance, conduct)

  • Lead on inductions and help drive engagement through effective people practices

  • Collaborate on recruitment alongside the internal coordinator

  • Ensure up-to-date HR records, compliance, and policy reviews

  • Work with the Director of People on people-focused projects (e.g. wellbeing, inclusion, engagement)

  • Support accurate data entry for payroll processing

About you:

  • Proven generalist HR experience (ideally in the charity or SME space)

  • Confident advising managers on employee relations matters

  • Sound knowledge of UK employment law and best practice

  • Excellent attention to detail and organisation

  • Comfortable with HR systems, Microsoft Office, and producing people data reports.
