Senior Development and Performance Specialist

Job description

A well-known international development charity based in Central London are looking for a Senior Development and Performance Specialist. The post-holder is responsible for the development and implementation of a learning and development strategy. This strategy supports the development of competences and capabilities of all employees with the view of strengthening work related performance and enhancing quality of work across the organisation. The Senior Development and Performance Specialist reports to the Human Resources Director. They will work closely with the HR team in Head Office, HR Focal Points based in other countries where the charity operates.

Key responsibilities

  • Working with the HR Director, to develop & deliver a 3 year learning and development strategy for staff in the UK and in country programmes, ensuring alignment with the overall HR and organisational strategy
  • Work with senior managers and regional HR Advisors to establish internal career paths and succession planning for key positions
  • Ensure all learning and development activities within the organisation are costed  Develop new learning and development initiatives (e.g. E and distance learning, coaching), matching with the appropriate delivery mode
  • Upskill and coach managers on HR best practice and policies and procedures
  • Support management on the handling of performance management cases including the creation of actions plans
  • Lead on the design and relevant updating of the induction process, ensuring that it appropriately equips new staff joining the organisation

Person specification

  • Educated at degree level with full CIPD qualification or specialist training qualification
  • Substantial experience of developing and implementing a learning & development strategy and plans
  • Extensive experience of successful training design, delivery, and evaluation to meet organisational requirements
  • Extensive experience of the evaluation of learning and development needs across a multisite organisation
  • Strong experience in HR project implementation in multi-site organisations of at least 200 employees
  • Significant experience of working with employment laws and practices in countries in Europe, Africa and Asia
  • Experience of delivering coaching and training
  • Experience of working as the system administrator of an LMS, preferably Totara
  • Experience of a flexible approach to managing and prioritising a high workload and multiple tasks in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines
  • Experience of proactively identifying and addressing issues
