Senior Financial Controller

Harris Hill are recruiting for a Senior Financial Controller for this children's charity based in North London

The post holder will be responsible for all aspects of financial and management accounting of the charity and its subsidiaries; and, by working in close collaboration with the Director of Resources.

Main Duties
The main duties are as follows:

Reporting: Produce timely and accurate monthly management accounts with supporting narrative. Produce monthly cash flow and balance sheet with historical and forecast information with a clear financial context to enable users' decision making. Assist the Head of Finance in presenting reports to senior executives and board members. In liaison with Finance Manager ensure quality and timeliness of month end process.

Financial planning: managing annual financial planning cycle in liaison with Finance Manager and Financial Officers; provide guidance and support to budget managers during this process.

Commercial: Business partnering a range of internal stakeholders. Support managers in providing information and analysis for bids and contracts and follow up reporting as required. Support managers in commissioning services and supplies to ensure that the charity obtains value for money.

Investment: Ensure secure administration of the charity's funds; ensure reconciliation of fund managers reports to the charity records and compliance with investment and reserves policies and accounting rules.

Treasury Management: Manage the charity's cash flow, ensuring adequate liquidity whilst maximising interest receivable and investment returns. Maintain all bank and investment mandates.

Annual accounts: Produce Annual Financial Statements and Notes ensuring they are fully compliant with the Charity SORP and other relevant regulatory requirements. Support year end process. Lead on timely completion and submission of audit deliverables.

Continuous improvement: Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting. Pro-active in continually improving our financial management, processes and systems to support high quality operational delivery.

Compliance: Manage and comply with all relevant regulations. Maintain all necessary accounting records as required by charity regulation, VAT and tax regulations. Develop and document business processes and procedures to maintain and strengthen internal controls in line with charity's Financial Regulations.

Team development: Develop and lead a high performing team. Ensure the team has:
- Clear objectives and effective and efficient monitoring systems to appraise performance and progress.
- Effective personal development plans to ensure professional standards are maintained and developed
- Effective performance management, reporting, early warning and improvement systems in place to minimise the operational risks.
- Processes in place to ensure observance or policies, legislation and performance standards

You will have the following experience:
Knowledge and experience of preparing Statutory Annual Accounts using SORP for a significant complex charity
Knowledge and understanding of internal controls, core accounting systems and processes.
Management of the year end process including audit.
Managing planning and budgeting within agreed schedules.
Evidence of disciplined approach to planning and reporting timetables and applying high quality and professional standard for ad hoc and routine deliverables e.g. monthly/ annual reporting.
Evidence of business partnering with operational managers, including business support (e.g. contracting and fundraising bids)
Working knowledge of tax and VAT in the charity context
Strong people manager who can evidence development of staff

Salary 60,000pa - 70,000pa plus benefits
