Senior Manager, Grants and Compliance

Harris Hill are working with an Environmental International organisation to find them a Senior Manager, Grants and Compliance. The successful candidate will lead the set-up of a new, small but critical unit within the Development Team, responsible for building the systems and processes required to manage a growing portfolio across both philanthropic and government income; implement systems to build winning budgets and manage them effectively and to donor requirements; ensure timely compliance reporting and coordinate effective due diligence for the charity and the partners; be responsible for providing insight and analysis on income and progress against targets to the Director of Development; and set best practice on budgeting and grant management. Working with colleagues across the organisation to secure their input and coordination across teams, you will help to maximise the strategic value of development funding to the organisation.

This new role will develop the charity's capability in this area to ensure continued growth and success. To succeed in this role, you must be detailed-orientated but also able to see the big picture, relish responsibility, be able to cope with challenges and communicate well. As with any expanding organisation there is a need to build and embed sustainable systems. You will be determined, tenacious and solutions-focused, able to design and implement the long-term vision for excellent grant management across all offices.

Key responsibilities

Support and line manage team members to perform to their highest levels of ability.
Build excellent internal working relationships to engage staff at all levels to support donor reporting and grant management including capacity building of staff as needed
Support the preparation of budgets during proposal development and review project financial reports ahead of submission to donors to ensure donor reporting requirements are being met.
Oversee due diligence and compliance processes
Provide grant management analysis for senior leadership across global philanthropy and government funding.
Communicate with donors to resolve problems and address grant management information requests.

Person specification

Experience in philanthropic and government grant management, including:
identifying compliance issues and developing tools, processes or procedures to improve compliance.
Donor contract and budget management, reporting and cost eligibility and compliance and a clear understanding of co-financing.
Experience using resource management and planning skills to develop efficient systems and processes.
Excellent financial management skills including budget development and reporting and tracking, reporting and analysing income.
Experience of line management and building teams to perform at their best.
Excellent attention to detail and general administrative skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Strong organisational skills with a methodical approach to working on several tasks simultaneously and meeting deadlines.
A strong team player under pressure.
Evidenced ability to work and initiate solutions independently.
