Social Media Officer

Job description

A cancer charity in London, seek an experienced Social Media Officer ASAP until the end of the year.

The Social Media Officer leads on the development and delivery of social media activity, coordinating content and building communities across all social platforms.

This is a key role in the Engagement Division, managing one of our most important channels to tell the story of what the charity does - providing social proof, changing perceptions and inspiring a community of committed supporters to help us save and improve lives.

Duties:
Take ownership of our social media activity, driving online engagement through compelling storytelling content, including rich media where appropriate
Produce and publish remarkable content that our audiences want to engage with and share
Produce meaningful insights into the success of social media activity and continually optimise content based on performance
Manage the social media plan to ensure content is timely and aligned with activity in other areas
Manage the social responses rota to ensure that we build meaningful and mutually beneficial relationships with our supporters and patients online
Drive leads and conversions to support the four goals of our Engagement Strategy: Income; Donor Recruitment; Awareness and Influence.
Build excellent working relationships with colleagues across the organisation to ensure our social media activity is understood and engaged with
Represent the charity when communicating with supporters online, demonstrating empathy and judgement while remaining professional
Manage the blog to ensure our longer-form story content is compelling and kept up to date
Produce content plans to support multi-channel campaigns
Act as evangelist for social media across the organisation
Write compelling copy that's appropriate for the platform for which it's intended, maintaining a consistent tone of voice
Identify and develop our presence on emerging social media platforms, ensuring that we remain relevant and available for our audiences into the future
Work with the Stories Manager to develop a pipeline of stories and ensure that assets delivered to the Digital Engagement team are appropriate
Occasionally manage the digital aspect of projects that have multiple aspects and stakeholders
Represent the Digital Engagement team at internal meetings and at external events
Any other duties as deemed appropriate and requested by the management.

Experience:
In-depth working knowledge of social media platforms and how to get the most out of them for brand engagement
Experience of managing online communities, including social listening, moderating and facilitating online conversations.
Excellent working knowledge of digital performance metrics and capability to extrapolate meaningful insights from data.
Planning and project management skills.
