Our values

Passion & Purpose

Integrity

Knowledge

Improvement

Appreciation

We are passionate about improving mental health and motivated by our ability to make a difference for those most impacted by mental illness.

We will act with integrity.

We will be objective and consistent in how we allocate funding and support.

We will counter direct and indirect discrimination.

We value diversity of experience, expertise, and perspective.

We will build into our organisation, and every aspect of our work, a range of voices, including those of people who experience mental illness.

We care about maintaining high standards and improvement.

We will be open about where we could do better, learn from our successes and failures and expect those we work with to do the same.

We value relationships, and show appreciation for support we get in whatever form that takes.

We know that we influence change through the expertise and commitment of others.

What do our people enjoy about working here?

Doing the job I love, knowing that the ultimate benefactors are those who are affected by poor mental health, a cause I am very passionate about.

Doing the job I love, surrounded by some amazing kind people, the Team Maudsley Charity!

Being a very small team, I did not expect the level of commitment to investing in DEI in terms of recruitment and team training, and also in general the emphasis on continuous development and training

We are proud to be based in a very diverse London community, and want to build further on our connections to our community as well as our national partners.

Our staff team strive to make sure we are a welcoming workplace for all, and that we challenge ourselves and each other to take real and positive actions on diversity, equity and inclusion in our staff team and in our work - as well as signing up to the principles of this.

Some of our benefits

Pension

An inclusive workplace

As an employer, we constantly strive to create a work environment in which everyone can thrive. We have committed to attaining and surpassing recognised standards of equality, diversity and inclusion set by leading national bodies, and to continous review and improvement. We monitor and benchmark our diversity with the objective that we reflect the sector and the population of the areas that the Charity operates in. We publish an annual breakdown of the diversity of our board, staff and membership alongside progress against the objectives we set ourselves.

Established in 2004, Mindful Employer is a UK wide initiative run by Devon Partnership NHS Trust. Providing employers with easier access to professional Workplace Mental Health training, information and support, the initiative aims to help empower employers to take a lead in supporting the mental wellbeing of their staff.

By signing the ‘Charter for Employer Positive About Mental Health’, Maudsley Charity have made a public statement of our desire to support the mental health of our staff across the organisation.

As a Disability Confident Committed Employer we have committed to:

• ensuring our recruitment process is inclusive and accessible
• communicating and promoting vacancies
• offering an interview to disabled people who meet the minimum criteria for the job
• anticipating and providing reasonable adjustments as required, supporting any existing employee who acquires a disability or long term health condition, enabling them to stay in work
• at least one activity that will make a difference for disabled people

In this workplace, we recognise and celebrate our colleagues’ identities. We are a community built on an ethos of equality and respect where hair texture and style have no bearing on an employee's ability to succeed.
