This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join Europe’s most successful fundraising team in higher education. The University of Oxford is seeking to appoint a Head of Development Legacies. This is a new and specialist role. 

Oxford’s aim is to continue to set the standard for university fundraising in Europe. Having recently completed the £3 billion Oxford Thinking Campaign, fundraising continues to thrive at Oxford. They are currently in the planning stages for their next campaign, so this could not be a more exciting time to join them.

The University of Oxford – Head of Development – Legacies

Location: Oxford (Hybrid working is possible)

Salary: Grade 9 £48,835 - £56,587 per annum with possible extension to £61,818

Contract: Permanent

Their legacy programme is set to expand with the creation of the Head of Development Legacies role. This new senior position will focus on building on their success in this area in recent years. The post holder will develop their legacy fundraising and marketing strategy with the aim to reach new audiences and generate significant levels of income.  This role requires a thorough understanding of legacy fundraising and the legacy market, including fundraising trends, best practice, the regulatory framework and legacy estate management.

This will be a senior role, reporting to the Director of Development - Pan University. The post holder will also be a member of the Team Leaders Group in the Development Office. The role will line manage a Senior Legacies Executive and they are hoping to see further expansion of the team in the future.

To be considered for this role you will need to have experience within securing 6/7 figure legacy gifts, and ideally experience of working with major donors too. You will have a good general level of education including a degree or equivalent and will ideally have experience of working at a senior level working on strategy and team leadership. Sound and effective relationship building skills for both internal and external audiences are key, so clear examples to support these skills are essential.
