The University of Oxford – Head of Development – Legacies

Location: Oxford (Hybrid working is possible)

Salary: Grade 9 £48,835 - £56,587 per annum with possible extension to £61,818

Contract: Permanent

Oxford is a terrific place to work as a fundraiser – world-leading academics in every department, a community of alumni and friends who have real passion for the University and its colleges, and a deep commitment to philanthropy across the institution. You would be joining a department with strong induction and ongoing personal development programmes, clear objectives and core values which include professionalism, collaboration, service-orientation, flexibility, and pro-activity.

Their legacy programme is set to expand with the creation of the Head of Development Legacies role. This new senior position will focus on building on their success in this area in recent years. The post holder will develop their legacy fundraising and marketing strategy with the aim to reach new audiences and generate significant levels of income.  This role requires a thorough understanding of legacy fundraising and the legacy market, including fundraising trends, best practice, the regulatory framework and legacy estate management.

This will be a senior role, reporting to the Director of Development - Pan University. The post holder will also be a member of the Team Leaders Group in the Development Office. The role will line manage a Senior Legacies Executive and they are hoping to see further expansion of the team in the future.

To be considered for this role you will need to have experience within securing 6/7 figure legacy gifts, and ideally experience of working with major donors too. You will have a good general level of education including a degree or equivalent and will ideally have experience of working at a senior level working on strategy and team leadership. Sound and effective relationship building skills for both internal and external audiences are key, so clear examples to support these skills are essential.
