Head of Health Advice

Job description

A health charity are looking for a Head of Health Advice to ensure that the charity's health advice is of the highest quality, evidence-based, clinically verified, up to date and delivered in accessible and engaging forms in the channels preferred by target audiences. You will ensure that their health advice, campaigns and products are effective in supporting condition self-management and developed to meet the needs of people with the condition.

You'll have a background in developing and delivering consumer advice through digital channels. The Health Advice team plays a key role in improving disease self-management, working alongside the Services and User Experience teams to reshape consumer health advice and support at scale. You'll lead the team who provide the comprehensive disease advice on the website, optimising this to reach priority audiences, and ensuring continuous improvement towards our goal of actionable, effective, engaging, relevant advice

You'll also contribute to innovative advice product development, working with internal and external teams to create advice tools and programmes, often in partnership with major funders, to meet the needs of people with the condition..

Key Responsibilities:
-Lead the development and delivery of high quality advice resources, campaigns and products for people with the condition to support their self-management based on latest evidence, insight from people with asthma and health professionals, and compliance with relevant clinical, internal governance, regulatory and brand guidelines and policies. These will be delivered through digital channels, including website, social media, and other digital platforms.
-Shape and maintain a balanced portfolio of health advice, products and campaigns by Determining advice priorities based on the needs of people with the condition, the wider advice and support ecosystem and organisational strategy, and ensuring operational delivery is rigorously aligned to these priorities
-Act as the organizational expert in consumer advice provision, behavior change, health activation and self-management.
-Contribute to the development of business cases and funding propositions for health advice and product innovation, Deliver projects against successful proposals, reporting internally and externally as required.
-Develop and maintain high-level relationships with key stakeholders and represent the charity in appropriate externally
-Develop a high performing Health Advice team
-Contribute to the development of the organisational culture, acting as an ambassador for collaborative cross functional working.
-Ensure that the Health Advice team is run as cost effectively and efficiently as possible, managing budgets
-Ensure that people with the condition are involved in the creation, development and maintenance of Health Advice resources and products

Skills and Experience required:
-Demonstrable experience of developing, implementing and evaluating consumer advice through digital channels for a reputable organisation, ideally in the not-for-profit sector
-Significant experience of leading the creation of accessible advice for a wide variety of audiences, including those with low literacies
-Experience in optimising the dissemination and reach of advice using a variety of digital channels
-Experience of delivering complex projects, especially in digital contexts
-Experience of working in multidisciplinary teams
-Experience involving users in the creation of consumer advice
-Sound skills in developing advice resources (essential) and products (preferable)
-Demonstrable ability to reach different audiences and communities using appropriate channels
-Able to design and implement impact evaluations of advice resources and products
-Strong digital skills comfortable with standard digital approaches to creating, maintaining and disseminating advice including CMS, digital content design, mobile-responsive design
-Sound planning and project delivery skills
-Expert knowledge of the principles of consumer advice provision, preferably in a healthcare context
-Appreciation of the potential and limitations of digital channels with respect to consumer advice
provision
-Understanding of the digital advice ecosystem and how owned advice resources and products fit into
this
-Knowledge of how to engage audiences using social media to promote health activation
