Media and Communications Officer

Job description

As Media and Communications Officer, you will have the talent and determination to turn mental health policy into creative news stories in this fantastic role, at a membership organisation. If you are keen to work in a fast-paced office in London, on one of the most important health agendas of the day as part of a dynamic, supportive media team, then this could be a perfect fit for you!

The focus of this role is to work across the communications sections of the organisations strategic communications.

-          To help make the case in the media of the need for better treatment for people with a mental illness. 

-          To work across the media and communications team in the external affairs section, working on the news desk and given responsibility for specific projects as well as supporting the team with day to day communications tasks.

Joining a creative team of communication professionals passionate about ensuring psychiatry and mental illness remain uppermost in the nation’s consciousness. Brimming with ideas, with a great writing style and personable manner, you will work closely with digital, policy and publications teams to ensure mental health is kept firmly on the political radar.

The ideal candidate:

-       Experience of working in media is key, but this is a role you will be expected to grow into with help from the experienced external affairs team.

-       A strong interest in current affairs, especially health.

-       An ability to respond quickly to journalists’ requests for comments are essential,

-       A working knowledge of digital communications. 

London, nearest tubes Aldgate/ Tower Hill.

They operate a hybrid working model of on site and working from home/remote, which helps to ensure a flexible work life balance. Set days in the office are Tuesday and Wednesday, the three days working from home.

Salary £29,041 - £31,876 per annum
