I am excited to be working with an amazing animal charity in search of a Payroll Officer on a 6-month temporary contract. You will be responsible for managing the end-to-end processing and recording of the monthly payroll. This includes posting (reconciling) the monthly headcount to SUN. To provide first line cover for Accounts Payable, Income Processing and Petty Cash. To proactively control the Balance Sheet accounts that ensures the month-end financial process of recording to reporting are accurate, timely, efficient and effective.

Key tasks and responsibilities:
Responsible for the management of UK payroll system including processing the monthly payroll, staff pension, headcount and other related benefits and resolve queries
Perform monthly payroll reconciliations
Administer PAYE Settlement Agreement and ensure correct amounts paid to HMRC
Ensure timely payment of monthly pension liability to pension provider
Complete annual returns to pension provider
Work closely with HR and payroll software provider, to fully understand how the integrated HR and Payroll software works
Document the internal payroll processed and provide training to colleagues in the finance team
Manage potential payroll outsourcing
Provide first line cover for sending electronic payments

Statutory Audit:
Support the Financial Accountant in addressing the points raised by the auditors as a result of any assurance work they have conducted or the annual statutory audit.
Take the lead role in the preparation of the audit file for review as part of the annual statutory audit or assurance work requested.

Financial Processes:
Prepare the end-to-end payroll process guidance and review with the Financial Accountant
Provide first line cover for the processing of invoices, Income Processing and the management of Petty Cash
Provide first line cover for posting journals created by other team members in the absence of the Financial Accountant.
