Job description

Maudsley Charity are an independent NHS charity focusing on improving mental health care and support, particularly for those most severely affected by mental illness. As an independent NHS charity, we draw on our endowment to help NHS teams to enhance their work to benefit patients and build collaborative new approaches to some of the most challenging issues in mental health.

The Charity give grants, which range from multi-million pound clinical and research initiatives intended to drive change across the UK, to smaller scale projects directly supporting people who experience mental illness. They have a specific focus in their work on the needs and challenges of those who have experienced, or who are most at risk of experiencing mental illness.

The Maudsley Charity - Programme Manager - Maternity cover

Location: Denmark Hill, London (and home working)

Salary: £38,000 (up to £46,000) pa dependent on experience.

Contract: Maternity cover

We are an ambitious and values driven team, currently entering a new phase of programme development where we are modelling new ways of working with award holders to develop evidence and increase impact.

The Programme Manager will be directly responsible for holding relationships with a portfolio of award holders who want to make a significant impact on mental health issues through their work. The role will manage a portfolio of grants and will run high profile decision-making processes, working closely with the Director of Programmes to ensure any issues are flagged up and dealt with in an appropriate, fair and timely way.

The role will manage applications, reviewing and decision-making processes, with particular focus on our Thematic funding programme on Psychosis - with support from the Director of Programmes.

The role will be responsible for day-to-day decision making, contact, coaching and monitoring of the portfolio and will work closely with the Director of Programmes and Communications colleagues to look for opportunities to amplify the impact of individual award holders' work. This may be through commissioning support or developing events and communications.
